Would this be a good deal?
Every single part on this has a part number that can be ordered new. Engine seems Okay (more than half its life left). Gotta wait for Scott and Lee to join this chip-n-dip to get some opinions and insight into the airframe and engine values.
The best part about this plane is its Registration - C-FKRS… Sound it out.
Running some rough numbers, I think I’d call this a good deal. Minor issue with it being in Canada but a DAR can help with this, it’s just an additional step and cost to the whole project. By good deal I think you’re $20-30k ahead. That’s if you do a lot of work yourself and don’t find completely rotten out tubes in the fuselage. Needs a lot of work, but may be hard to find something cheaper.
Holy shit, how did I not notice this… there’s NO WAY that’s on accident… are the Canadians able to pick their own registrations?
@LeeGriffing wait… the fuselage tubes can rot out? Are they made out of wood?
Bad choice of words. Rusted out. They are made out of mild steel mostly in the back and the cockpit is all 4130 I believe.
That’s what I thought!
This aircraft needing new fabric soon anyway, is swapping out for a new frame that much more of a hassle knowing that all the fabric will be coming off either way? I feel like I would be tempted to put a new frame on anyway at that point just for good measure.

Yep! Some hilarious ones in my area. This guy pulled into an AOPA fly-in recently and definitely caught everyone’s attention.
Haha that’s even more on the nose!
Hell yeah, it’s great to see ya back on here man!!
