Any Planned Trips/Flights?

Anyone here has any planned trips/flights in 2025 they are excited for? Where, roughly when, and what’s the main attraction?

@LeeGriffing - any long cross country on your Cub?

My wife and I are contemplating the possibility of flying @Dr.Badass’s 150 from his airport in Ohio (88D) to Lancaster airport in Pennsylvania (KLNS) this summer. (300 NM)

Main attraction being my wife has family in that area of PA.

@balls_to_the_wall What a great topic/question!

I’m boring as hell. I’m mostly going to just try to keep working the kinks out in the Cub doing pattern work. Picking up a new prop for it this week hopefully. The biggest potential trip I have planned is a fly-in from kpcw to 2D7 about 80NM… Nothing much in a cirrus but feels pretty far in this thing. To me at least. Any other takers? Turn this question back to you @balls_to_the_wall

Damn, its been a while. Life got busy last month over several not-so-good threads (but fortunately turned out to be nothing).

Finally got my plane back last weekend. It’s now restricted to cross country trips for about 25 hours (no stalls, touch n goes, etc). Been doing trips over to Naples, Fort Meyers, Sarasota to knock off the rust and build up time on the new cylinders. Longer term, we have a trip to Key West and Orlando planned out already later in the year. Thinking of doing Tampa, cape canaveral, amelia island, and possibly Charleston time/weather permitting.

Are you planning on all overnight trips, or do you just blast over for lunch on some of these?

A mix of both. Nearby airports might be a day excursion, further out a 1-3 day trip.

Weather in southern Florida has been utter shit for the last 1-2 weeks though. We did a test flight (also for IFR currency) over to Ft Myers…. Checked the weather after preflight/before starting engine and everything looked fine entire morning. Take off and not even 35 mins later as we are approaching, airport is LIFR due to pop up storm. Fortunately these go away as soon as they show up, but still…

I remember doing training at Lantana and the planes would be booked out a week+… the exception was 3-5pm, nearly every plane would be available almost every day. It was because nobody even bothered for those times because there was almost always thunderstorms rolling though.

@RobertBerger @balls_to_the_wall and because its hot AF. I’d be booking 5am slots.
