Wanna join the elite group of 150 pilots?
“A&P | IA Owned”
I know with cars they say to never buy one owned by a mechanic… does the same rule apply to aircraft?

These prices are so discouraging. I still think of 150’s as the type of aircraft you could ball up, and just go buy another one.
There is a really nice 1940 J3 Cub for sale near me for $55k. Practically museum quality, but dang …
I don’t think in the grand scheme of life anyone has ever regretted buying a museum quality J3 though!
I want it since its such a clean example and I know the owner making the consideration more relevant. The look of it all is just so iconic. Our hangar is consumed by the RV-14 project and so immediately presents a problem for where to store it.
Local flights to the islands with the door open low and slow are awesome but I don’t know how long I could continue be happy just doing that.
It’s just not the right time for me, but man I’m really trying not to impulse buy it.
As much as I want something like a mint J3, or as mentioned in the other topic on here recently a AL3, I couldn’t do it as my main airplane… it would need to be an extra airplane that’s in the back corner behind my other aircraft.
Just sitting in the back of the hangar perfectly clean, looking great and ready to go when the forecast is good and I want to do that sort of flying.
I forgot you are building an RV!!! I am re-excited for you.
How is it going? Gotta make a post about it on here once in awhile, I’d like to do a little living vicariously through you. haha
I have probably wasted 5ish hours of my productivity in the last few days researching Bearhawk 5’s!
Nailed it. Those types of aircraft seem like one for a flying collection rather than being a workhorse.
The 150 originally listed is very nice VFR ship and I’ve had my fill of 152 time the last few years being the caretaker of a beautiful example. It’ll get you anywhere, eventually.
