Controller.com Seems To Love Cirrus SR22's

I looked up single engine pistons for sale on Controller this morning, and 40 of the first 43 listings are Cirrus SR22’s. I was not logged in and cleared my cache to make sure I wasn’t getting biased results.

I thought Rob had to have been messing something up. I checked it out myself and they were almost exclusively Cirri. Could a slowdown at the factory mean used ones are getting good prices and owners are taking advantage? Maybe trading up to a Vision jet or just selling assets due to the overall market? Hard to tell. I’m open to theories.

Yeah, I hadn’t pulled up controller in awhile but I don’t ever remember it like that.

“Pinky up nation” must be losing its demand

Good friend of mine flies for a part 91 - fleet of SF50’s out of Texas and Florida.

bahaha!!! Great to see you again, JJ! (I’m nervous to tell you this, but I just got a 2021 SR20 3 weeks ago. Yikes.
My friends made me promise them I wouldn’t turn in to an A$$.

DFreed’s in the house!

I flipped my opinion on the Cirrus’s from negative to positive years ago.

I have the tail number N22RB reserved for either a Cirrus or a Robinson.

Even if you need to blur out the tail numbers, get some photos on here of your fleet! haha

Welcome Dan! SR20! Yes! I think that’s the way to go. Bang for the buck wise.

So glad we have all the OGs here! Welcome Jarred. Congrats on crushing all your ratings! Must be a freakin record

@LeeGriffing ya should tag people when you mention them so they know ya talked about them! haha @DFreed1 @JJTEX817

Got a Cirrus market analysis from Aerista last week (can forward if you want). Basically the G7 is overpriced by 250k relative to comparable G6, and G6 owners pegging prices higher in response. A lot of that inventory is sitting and not moving. Slightly older generations (or fairly priced G6s) are moving at normal rates.

Hell Yeah… @balls_to_the_wall Andres has joined the chat.

Is somebody potentially in the market, or are you just on there list?

Shoot it over if you still have it, I’d check it out.

Good to hear from you again!

Forwarded email.

Used them when buying a G5 SR22T a year ago. Overall positive experience. Now dealing with the usual maintenance issues.

You have my attention now! haha

With some sort of SR22 being on my short list of potential next aircraft, are you talking about general aircraft maintenance issues or SR22T specific stuff?

Both common and SR specific.

In my case I bought a 2015 model, so this year it required a mandatory CAPS repack (every 10 years) and replacement of the seat/harness inflators. Those issues you wont find in other airplanes. But, since you know they are due at some point, you can use that to negotiate the sale price down, which we did.

Airplane currently going through annual inspection. Need to replace a cylinder as it has a crack (bit puzzled on this one given we flew to Key West last weekend and engine performance was perfectly fine there and back). But, apparently these Continental engines do chew through cylinders periodically even if you run lean of peak, keep CHTs and EGTs in normal range…

CAPS repack is news to me…good to know!

I’ve heard of crack being found while the engine is still running good. It sucks, but better to find it now!

You’re killing me with the Key West flight! Haha

Keys Runs And Bahamas runs are half my motivation to get an airplane.

You been to The Island Fish Company restaurant on Marathon yet? That’s usually my go to when flying with friends down there.

Yeah CAPS repack is the big one. Runs anywhere from 18,000-22,000 depending on mechanic shop. It’s steep, but it helps negotiate price down/up if around the mandatory repack time as the airplane is not airworthy otherwise.

Great airplane so far. Just stay on top of it and dont rely on autopilot to the point you lose flying skills.

Flying to the Keys (and FL west coast) is great. Instead of 3-4 hours driving, its a very scenic 45 minute flight.

Have been to Island Fish Company once. Great food. Only part that sucks is you cant drink if flying in/out that day :(.

It ALMOST ruins the entire experience only being able to enjoy the food half of the equation.

Definitely worth grabbing an off season hotel for an evening down there once in awhile!
