FAA Certified Parts

@LeeGriffing this is going to cost you 10ish mins of your life to watch, but I am legitimately curious how your experience compares to this as far as “FAA Certified” parts still potentially being junk.

I totally agree with this dude. Many manufacturers just keep piggybacking on previously accepted/approved data. Sometimes these standards are 50+ years old. It’s a layup in terms of getting a product approved from a profit standpoint for the prospective manufacturer, but leave the market with a completely inferior product. Look at the Lycoming and Continental vs Rotax argument. Yeah, I want a tried and true platform like a Lycoming or Continental but they haven’t really improved anything in decades.

If the FAA would allow an easier path for approving the use of better products safety and affordability would likely increase for GA owners because I think more manufacturers would enter the market. Look at the experimental market. I think the FAA has gotten better about this but I gotta bitch about something!
