Just bought an SR22 hopefully I will get to pull the chute sometime!
Did you use @balls_to_the_wall’s advice and talk them down based on when the chute needs repacked?
I’m going to need someone to check me out in it before I can give you flight reviews!
Congrats!
Are you doing the transition program (and no, not the male/female type; the Cirrus one)?
I haven’t started the hormone therapy yet but plan to soon
As far as the cirrus goes I’m just gonna wing it
It should be ready soon, gonna pick it up in a couple weeks
Yeah I think I got a pretty good deal on it
Nice! You might want to check regardless, Cirrus Embark is offered free of charge for pilots buying their first Cirrus. I believe their only condition is that you must have zero hours in Cirrus as PIC.
I did the training over 3 days then flew from Wisconsin to Florida the day after with the same instructor. Felt very proficient after their training.
So they will provide an instructor to help reposition a Cirrus? That’s handy for people transitioning!
Embark covers VFR/IFR training for 2.5 days, give or take due to weather and scheduling. Its a full curriculum with online training modules and flight lesson plans, with milestones the pilot must achieve before completing the program (eg, power off 180). It usually helps lower insurance too.
The flight home really is separate from their program. You pay the CFI per flight hour plus usually a return 1 way flight. For me I felt it was a good idea: brand new plane to me (added safety features, but also more complex), longest cross country ever for me, and a long line of storms making their way north east across our path (we were 100 miles east of ATL when they halted all flights to Hartsfield due to severe storms…). It was one of the dumbest and yet better flights I’ve ever done.
Wisconsin to South Florida is no joke in a single engine piston.
Even if you have a chute! Haha
Airworthy or in parts?
Yeah @Dr.Badass, we are going to need some photos of this beast when you take delivery! I’m skeptical.
